How to estimate how many yards or tons of a product you will need
Example of a 44' x 30' x 3" lot
Multiply the length by the width: 44' x 30' = 1320 sq. feet
Then mulitply that number (1320) by the depth of your lot: 1320 x .25 (3") = 330
Then divide that number (330) by 27 gives you yards needed: 330 ÷ 27 = 12.22
Then multiply that number ( 12.22) by 1.35 gives you tons: 12.22 x 1.35 = 16.5 tons
Depth conversion
1” = .083
2” =.166
3” =.25
4” =.33
5” = .42
6” = .50
7” = .583
8” = .666
9” = .75
10” = .833
11” = .916
12” =1.0
How to determine how much stone you will need for the outside of a pool
Example of a 24' round pool
Divide the size of the pool in half: 24' ÷ 2 = 12
Multiply it by itself: 12 x 12 = 144
Multiply that number by pi: 144 x 3.14 = 452.16
Multiply by the depth: 452.16 x 3” (.25) = 113.04
Divide by 27: 113.04 ÷ 27 = 4.19 cubic yard
Multiply by 1.35 for ton: 4.19 x 1.35 = 5.66
